Indeed, it's Packed with Absurdity, Over-the-Top Hospitality and Self-Help Jargon. Yet I Truly Love Meghan's Christmas Special.

No matter the time of year, it's always fair game for commentary on the Duchess of Sussex's televisual offering, With Love, Meghan. Commentators, both professional and armchair, have seldom found such common ground as when enthusiastically shredding the series' first and second seasons to pieces. The prevailing view was that a bigger monarchy-related faux pas had seldom occurred than the now-infamous pretzel re-packaging incident.

Presently, as a festive rebel, she has returned with a new offering with a "Holiday Celebration" (aka a yuletide episode). Yet now, it's different. The usual elements we've come to expect – psychobabble word salads, extreme hosting – remain, but set of a yuletide episode, suddenly it all makes sense. The puzzle has come together; it's a perfect snow storm.

At this stage, Meghan has become the eccentric aunt at Christmas celebrations everywhere – providing unasked-for guidance, and contributing the occasional strange exclamation. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's an interesting figure, but her aura is known and oddly reassuring. And she looks pleased; she's causing a bit of damage.

She understands her all subtle gestures, utterance and look will be picked apart and criticised, but still appears relaxed and remarkably at ease.

It could be this is the only time in history where that well-worn saying – "Ignore them, they're just jealous" – might be true. The reason is, you know what?, each element in Meghan's Holiday Celebration truly is lovely. Granted, it's all painfully excessive, nonsense and flamboyant – but doesn't that represent precisely what Yuletide is all about? And the advice she gives might be laughable, but the walk she's walking seems authentically shop-bought.

Anything she turns her beautifully manicured, diamond-adorned hand to, she pulls off with flair. Her cooking looks delicious, the festive decoration she creates is gorgeous, her presents are almost too pretty to tear into. Not a single thing is average or ugly – even the way she ties her apron is artful and chic. She doesn't throw a meal in the oven, it "has a moment", and she wraps gift paper like an craft master. She also seems to be genuinely relishing herself the entire time. How could any skeptical viewer not be won over, filled with holiday spirit and left with a deep longing for crafted festive snaps or a vegetable display where greens is positioned in the shape of a wreath?

Meghan was once an actress for a living, obviously, but despite that, after the degree of examination she has faced from the moment she started dating Prince Harry, a theoretical combination of Meryl Streep and Judi Dench would struggle to act this genuinely. Her unwillingness to alter or even tone down her shtick, regardless of it being so constantly, internationally ridiculed, is oddly heartening. In our uncertain world, here is one thing we can count on: Meghan will stay true to form, no matter what. We will forever know our position with her.

If you're not yet convinced by her message, a point that will surely come as a comfort: you aren't required to. There isn't national service in this country, and were it to return, it would be improbable to include streaming With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, on the other hand, you decide to tune in and are gripped with jealousy about her flawless Christmas, there is hope either. Whether you're a duchess or a data administrator, no kid truly appreciates the time and energy their mum expends in the holiday season. So you can console yourself by envisioning Archie and Lilibet's faces when they open a calligraphy note that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a DIY festive calendar, in place of a candy.
