The Renowned Musician Urges Support to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.

A campaign is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It has a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The song blends a mix of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The organizers behind the initiative have emphasized that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“There is no a specific target,” a figure explained. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the more the merrier. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the area was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of property reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The song is launching on Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
