The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure Over Size Updates

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Response

Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.

It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Updates

Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.

Required Changes

Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
