Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
