Vince Gilligan Shares He Has a Plan for How The Apple TV+ Show Will End... Currently.

The creative mastermind could not have predicted that the Apple TV+ show would emerge as a massive hit. “God bless the fans,” he states. “I did not foresee the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

As the debut season of the popular sci-fi show reaching its finale—and Season 2 greenlit and underway—the writers' room opened up about the viewer reception and whether it will shape the future direction of Pluribus.

About the Tremendous Fan Response

Anyone might to get swayed by the rampant praise and online debates about Pluribus. He is doing his best to steer clear of all that.

“The experience is akin to constantly eating your favorite dessert and being tickled to death,” he says. “It's amazing, but I get wind of it through word of mouth, and that's on purpose. Not once have I searched for my own name online, nor do I ever want to. It's quite the opposite. It's a deep trap I know I would disappear down and then I'd be living in squalor from Home Depot and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

In spite of his concerted efforts, there’s it's impossible to ignore the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to accept it graciously and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.

“It is not our goal to change the plot,” says writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The narrative we craft is not impacted by what people are saying.”

“It's wiser to keep our noses to the grindstone,” Gilligan concludes.

The Central Mystery: Will Vince Gilligan Have a Plan for the Ending of Pluribus?

So if the creative staff aren’t being guided by fan response, does it imply they have already decided how Pluribus will finally conclude? In short yes… in a way.

“There are some potential directions about how the story could conclude,” Gilligan says. “however, we remain prepared to discard a decent plan for a more brilliant plan. That philosophy has guided us in good stead on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We throw stuff out when we get a better idea and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Then again, if they hit a wall, Gordon Smith has a humorous idea to use as a backup.

“I constantly suggest that everything takes place within a snow globe, and that we'll zoom out in the finale and that's where they've been all along,” Smith quips, “but nobody's taking me up on that.”

Alternatively, one could always use the classics?

“I want Carol to wake up in bed beside Bob Newhart,” he jokes.

Pluribus is streaming now on Apple TV.
