NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage features text commentary for the weekend matchups via multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary is available through designated networks covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six in the NFL season , following last week's talk regarding two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their unbeaten records.
Notable during those contests was the amount of penalties both committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments meaning they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the fourth period against Denver, who play overseas this weekend.
However it was good to see how Denver quarterback the rookie was able to overcome that deficit before direct three successful possessions in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the victory 21-17.
Denver boast the top defender in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are number one in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, yet the Broncos won that battle.
They executed the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't always rushing more than four pass rushers but they could position two LBs in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and send a slot defender off the edge.
At the start in the campaign, we said on a program how Denver might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They ended last season well then did a good job of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?
Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled big and new RB JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
I love how head coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates that the Broncos represent a team aiming to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes while keeps you in favourable down and distances.
It's also helped QB the young passer, who entered into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert possess the arm strength to pass anywhere, but they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, and he's highly agile.
His assets are his movement, being able to throw while moving, and finding varied release points to deliver the pass as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can deliver that layered pass over the middle or over the corner.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got great composure in the pocket and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He aims to avoid being tackled as much as possible and can pass in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.
When you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the defence to be on the field extended periods, and when you've got a mobile QB the defence must defend the area downfield side to side. This proves exhausting.
The quarterback has bitten back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think Payton likes that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for him to coach a young quarterback that is similar to play-dough. The coach can truly develop him the way he desires to build it. I think it's a special experience for him.
Payton has won a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. I think the success the Broncos are having on offence is largely down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix aids shape him what he is.
There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and build self-belief.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to go against an elite team at full strength? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.
Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, that's a solid position to be in the AFC West. All they need is to continue this trajectory.
They excel at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they must do against the New York Jets in London. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad yet to win any game.
Ever since the NFL started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are the first team to be without a single takeaway through five games, this is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City are off to a poor start following a recent loss by the Jaguars.
Following the upcoming matchup, Denver have a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the division.
This hinges on which form of the Chiefs they face because the Broncos {beat|def
